Why does the catcher throw to third after each strikeout with the bases empty and two outs or less in the MLB or practicaly any level of baseball for that matter?

In MLB----if the catcher drops the ball AFTER the third strike-"technically" the batter can attempt a run to 1st base. Since most catchers are right handed-the toss to 3d base is easier (on the body)-so, as the previous answer indicates-the ball is "tossed about" to keep the infield
"limbered" since there actually was no "play" involved in the strike-out.

Because baseball with a lot of strikeouts can get very boring and stagnant and the infield must keep there arms loose so they can make the big throws to first. So there is time while the next batter gets up to the plate they throw the ball around.

it relatively is like a extreme 5, yet in particular it extremely is a convention & may be to one/3 or to first. it relatively is in basic terms completed on the 1st and 2nd out of the inning and in basic terms whilst there are no runners on base. At decrease tiers of play (Little League, Babe Ruth, extreme college) the order is third (5) to 2nd (4) to Shortstop (6) to First (3) or the opposite. many cases contained in the pros its 5 to six to 4 to 3 or the opposite.

because it's boring to just throw it back to the pitcher..soo in a game with a lot of strikeouts, kids/players may be falling asleep in the field soo it helps keep the players on their toes..

It also keeps the infielders' heads in the game.

Cuz then the 3rd baseman throws to SS who throws to 2nd baseman who throws to 1st baseman who "tosses" to walks to pitcher. It's called "around the horn" Kinda like a moral booster - saying "YEAH GOT HIM OUT" "woo haa" "LETS GO" "KEEP IT GOING" that stuff. Get it?
