It is the end of the world as we know it.
However, we don't really know very much, and most of what we think we know is wrong.
So the end of this world means the beginning of the next. Some people of fixed ideas will be unable to handle the change and will go away for a while before reincarnating, probably on a different planet, because this one is evolving to higher level, and will no longer be able to support those of lower levels. This is why many species are becoming extinct, and soon, so will many people.

Hmm, destruction of civilization as we know it.
Likely causes:
1) Nuclear war and resulting fallout by far the most likely
2) Extreme overpopulation and resulting anarchy when governments fail to control citizens
3) Asteroid collision is always possible

That would be the end of the world for me.

I suppose when the Sun becomes a red giant and swallows up Earth, that would be the end of the world for good.

I believe that until the sun burns out there will not be a complete ending of human existence. Meteors? No, the government will always have a way to get them out of the way. War? No, there will not be a war that kills every single person on the face of the earth. I believe the only way all humans will be killed is when the sun burns out, to answer your question. ;]
