First, draw up a budget and decide how much faster you want to go. If you decide only a turbo kit can scratch your speed itch, for example, you'll be wasting money if you buy a header first. It won't work with the turbo.

If you're satisfied with 10 more horses, maybe 15 if you're lucky, go for the basic breathing mods: Cold air intake, header, cat-back exhaust. They're budget friendly and have very few drawbacks, but you may want more power.

Nitrous oxide injection is cheap and can give you a quick 50 hp, but isn't very useful when the bottle's empty. Having the bottle hooked up on public roads may be illegal depending on your state laws, too.

For a real kick that won't go away, I would recommend either an engine swap or a turbo kit. This can cost a couple thousand dollars, but it'll give you really big power gains - often without even annoying the smog police.

Start off we easy things like a Cold Air Intake. It does not help a lot, but it does help just enough where you can feel the power difference. It also gives it a much more aggressive sound. I am assuming you are pretty new to car mechanics, but just start off small if you are. Then work up to exhaust, and a set of header, an underpully gear, a larger throttle body. Just keep the things small, and within your ability to do yourself.

Oh, and don't be cheap with mods. Honostly, cheap mods will cost you much more in the long run as they can fall off, or mess up your car.

Oh, and DO NOT buy the "speed chips" on eBay that costs like $10. All they do is tell your car's computer, ECU, different things than actually is true, it says the engine is colder than it is and is getting more air than it is and messes things up as the car runs at different settings. It does technically give you more power, but at the cost of your engine.

You buy a crate engine.

That is a complete engine and it comes in a crate, usually with its own computer.
It bolts right up, no mess, no trouble, EZ even for you.

It will be a modified race engine and you should have its hp. and torque specs before you buy it.
It may have a supercharger or a turbo. You will need to fit the exhaust headers, and cat-back to support flow requirements. If it doesn't come with fuel pressure regulator,You should get an adjustable regulator. Honda produces and sells them. Psst, you get warranty.
Get ready to spend money though.
At least you'll be spending it right and not throwing it away on falsely advertised B.S.

A K&N airfilter can increase horsepower -- you could also try racing fuel or installng a nitrus tank.

-Decrease the weight of the vehicle.
-Add octane booster to the gas so the burning of the gas is more efficient.
