I think most people find the stare of the snake to be very intimidating. That is , until you explain that snakes have no eye lids & can't blink. That seems to help a bit This irrational fear is what protects many snakes from predators, including humans.

One reason they are not informed and they think all snakes are venomous, and because of the bible, the devil took over the snake and made adam and eve eat the apples, alot of christians think thats true in snakes today, thats not true, can a python actually talk or any snake talk, am a chirstian, but i like snakes for some reason.reason number 2, their parents and grand parents probably. tolds them all snakes are bad, and that is not true, if satan didnt take over the snake, and took over something else alot of people would like it, they say youre are most likely getting killed by ur own dog than a corn snake. some snakes are bad, like the venoumous species, like taipans, mambas, rattlesnakes, copperheads, vipers, sea snake, there are snakes that shouldnt not be messed with and are snakes that are safe. my example exvery one in my Family, is scared of them expt for me, i take the time to study bout learn more and they dont and dont really know nothing about snakes so they are scared of em, and i thnik main reason people think they are slimy, and thats not true they got soft skin and asking how do you handle it. so leaving them terrified and mostly wat they see on tv, snakes are bad, balh blah just a bunch of crap. snakes are wonderful creatures

i've got confidence the term is "Ophileliphobia" An Unreasonable and unknown worry of snakes. it extremely is exceeded down out of your parents, whether you keep in mind or no longer someplace on your sub-wide awake is your dad or mum do no longer touch, snakes chew, and so on, and on a similar time because it relatively is the right ingredient to do whilst your little ones are youthful, it impacts some persons better than others later in existence, some will merely substitute into concerned with reptiles on a similar time as some would be deathly afraid. and worry is very mostly linked with (as reported till now) the unknown. in case you decide directly to overcome this worry, merely attempt to take small steps, watch one during the glass of the cage before everything, then look at one on a similar time as somebody is preserving it, ( they are captivating animals) then try a rapid touch, then merely boost the quantity of time you touch on a similar time as somebody else holds it, then ultimately carry one your self, via that factor optimistically your worry will turn to fascination....

Snakes have been given a bad name since biblical times when it's said that a serpent is the one that tempted man. It's sad because most snakes are harmless and all are beneficial to man. Most people who are afraid of snakes are just ignorant to the facts. They refuse to try to understand them. People fear what they don't understand.

I believe that it is a learned behavior. Socially, it is a typical fear. As a child, most mother's would go nuts to see their child with a snake. Horror movies, media all spread unrealistic fear.
do you remember when you started fearing snakes....a reason as to why? I find it quite ridiculous that so many are deathly afraid of snakes. I have gotton out my pet corn snake "Red" and had people literally run from the sight of him as he is just kicking back on my arm.
What is there to fear? An animal that is not furry, cuddly? To be afraid of something for it's general appearance is just ridiculous.
Get over it.

In the Christian faith the snake is the devil, that's starters , with exceptions ( some Christians use snakes in the prayers ( like the middle portions of America ) and Hindus who treat them as God like. The snake crawls and is not noticeable at eye level, hiding in creeks and undergrowth and is poisonous. The cobra among others are deadly.I dislike them personally because it personifies the devil in Genesis. The Chinese in Hong Kong/China/Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos love them and drink their blood as an Aphrodite.Strange lot!

It's the age old fear that nature installed in us when humans when we were among the other animals in the forest, jungles, deserts, Savannah's etc. It's a protection device or safety feature nature gave u which cause animals and humans to immediately sense fear when one is near. The idea of a poisonous death is more distressing to us.
Mos tof us have been told over and over all of our childhood years until we developed wholesome fear of all snakes,

I've seen 3 (rattlesnakes) while hiking with my dogs and nothing happened to us, they are a very beautiful creature, and let you know if you are too close or if they feel threatened. I didn't try to get close, I left them alone and they did not do anything to hurt me or my dogs.
So I would say that what make people so terrified about them are maybe the movies, or their lack of education...

Their eyes, the slithery look, the fact that some can kill you, they're cold blooded animals, they move slowly most of the time, they're legless, and you never know what they are thinking.
