Diatomacious Earth (used only when dry but very effective) Can be also used on most pets and livestock to kill mites, ticks and fleas.
Ivory Soap and water ( mixed 3 Cups-water to 3 Tablespoons of Ivory Liquid soap) The bugs smother. Spray on with a canister sprayer for large areas or bottle sprayer for small areas in the evening or early morning.
Rinse plants after a couple of hours. Only Ivory soap.... it is biodegradable.
Plant Plants that help deter bugs that harm...such as Marigolds, Basil...
Purchase Lady Bugs, Praying mantis eggs for the garden.
Aspertame (yessss what they put in diet drinks and food) Started out AS a Bug killer and still is. Does very well with ants.
Buy a chrysanthimum-based pesticide....non harmful to the environment (Pyrethrum)

First you say that you care about the environment. Then you talk about killing bugs. The Earth does not belong only to humans. Bugs are a part of the environment. Leave them alone.

are they in your house or in your garden or what?
If the bugs are out in the yard, let them be. thats where bugs live. you don't need golf course quality front yard grass. if theyre in your gaden and eating your plants, get some toads or at least make your yard toad friendly. if they are in your house keep your area clean and theyll eventually stop coming in

you could try reasoning with them...but you could also use diatomaceous(unsure of sp) earth..it is simply very fine dust of diatoms...which sorta slices through the insects and kills them...but also you should not breath it...but it is basically earth friendly.
