Oh, if I really knew I'd be happier. And rich, because I'd sell the answer. But I suspect it has a lot to do with "wanting what you have rather than having what you want." You have think on that a while, but the answer is probably in there somewhere.
When I worked at the newspaper I used to see an undertaker daily as he brought in obituaries. He was the happiest guy I'd ever met. Always happy. Always. It was a constant mystery to me until I realized that he was daily faced with the "only alternative." He was genuinely happy not to be on the horizontal side of his business. And rightfully so.
It's all about perspective.

Having a great hair day while holding a bottle of wine in one hand and a wine glass in the other, and walking down a white sandy beach barefoot and barely clad, on a wonderfully hot and windy day.
...Sorry this is not the secret to happiness. It's just one of my happy thoughts...lol.

FOR ME THE BEST WAY TO GET HAPPINESS IS FIRST, I HAVE TO DEFINE WHAT DOES HAPPINESS MEAN FOR ME. NEXT, I HAVE TO WORK HARD IN ORDER TO FIND MY OWN HAPPINESS. FOR INSTANCE, MY PERSONAL HAPPINESS IS TO HELP NEED PEOPLE, SO I TRY TO DO THE BEST I CAN FOR HELPING ANYONE IN NEED.
IN GENERAL TERMS, THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS IS TO IMPROVE OURSELVES THROUGH DIFFERENT FACTS, FAVORS, ETC. BESIDES, IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE CLEAR THAT HAPPINESS IS A SUBJECTIVE GOAL DIFFERENT FOR MANY PEOPLE. WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY NOT NECESSARILY MAKES ME TOO.
