There would be no way to ensure that your new thought was entirely original. I would like to think I have, if only in view of research ideas that I have utilised and that I have thus far not been told have been tried, but possibly I have not.
However, you could also look at it in view of that fact that everybody has neural pathways to connect these thought processes, and as these will have been formed in different ways and different orders, depending on how our life has proceeded so far, then we are all entirely original.
I favour the idea that everyone has original thoughts, they may just not be exciting life changing ideas.
Remember - You are unique...just like everybody else. lol

When I self discover I have thought of an original thought. For example, if I try to understand the motivations for many of my behaviors or actions. When I discover the motivation that is an original thought. No one else would ever know bc the motivations are rooted to situations that I have endured and no one would be able to have influenced me. My experience is where I form an original opinion and that is something no one will ever know.

I don't know if this counts as original thought, but I write poetry which are based on my thoughts and I like to think my thoughts come only from me originally and therefore, my poem, is an original work of art based on my original thoughts.
So, maybe what I am saying is that creativity is the product of original thoughts.
Instead of wishing you a nice day, I want to wish you an original day like the first day of creation.

All thought is original... to the individual who thought it....
but, original as far as human thougth through out human history.... I would have to know every thougth anyone ever thought to answer that question....
yes, if a person invents something, after seeing it in their mind... and it hasn't been made before... it must be considered original... even if it is composed of other ideas.... so, I would say I have had an original thought.... inventively speaking....

Of course.. we all have them all the time. Although the idea or concept is the same, the people, time, place, and scenario etc. of the thought is individual to the thinker. My thought mab be exactly the same as that another person has but mine involves a combination of people and places that only i could put together.

Nothing can be truly original. We are all people who sh*t and eat and f*ck and cry and talk and work etc... We are bounded by physical reality. All our thoughts are limited by language and the physical world that we occupy. I can only do so much in this physical reality... Swing my arms around, jump, go insane, throw things, scream "goo goo ga ga!!!" but it is all limited by the laws of physics. My thoughts are limited as well by the neurons in my brain. No, there is no truly original thought. But it doesn't matter.
