Christians don't fast as part of any ceremony or rule of the church. Some fast trying to concentrate better on prayer. In that instance any food or liquid would be breaking the fast. Fasting means nothing by mouth. Nothing means nothing.

THere are different fasts in the bible...21 day no meat or sweets...40 day 40 night complete fast drinking only water...but it's mostly up to the individual...you can fast off of television...it's whatever you want to give up for a while that you like doing to be able to show God by setting yourself aside for a while to hear from Him.

You can drink water when you are fasting but as soon as you eat something you are now longer fasting. Fasting isn't mandatory for all Catholics though. It is required from the ages of 18-59.

I'm pretty sure it's any kind of food is it not? Since fasting means not eating for a day...hmm at least that's how my school handles it..anyways, if you are talking about no meats on fridays and stuff, you can still eat fish? lol sorry for no help:p

if its an absolute fast--such as no food, & its been for a number of days... you have to break the fast by taking soft food, such as soup, porridge, and the like & take a while before you take in meat, soda or caffeine... hope that helps...

It seems to me that the first thing she has is what breaks the fast. If she eats bread or toast, that would possibly be it.

generally, the communion wafer and wine(or juice if you go to one of those weird churches) A religious fast should start and end with a communion mass or service
