make sure there are no wires touching the fan, if not they yes it is probably going to go soon. one thing you can do, remove the fan from the case. remove the sticker from the fan that should reveal what looks like a metal rod with a plastic snap ring holding the pin into the fan housing. remove the snap ring with a razor blade or tiny flat tipped screw driver. after you have it out lubricate the pin with some clean motor oil. re-assemble the fan and see if it still makes noise. (yes i know that oil eats plastic, this is a temporary fix, if you have any Teflon lubrication that would be alot better, but who has that laying around the house) if that does not fix your problem go down to your local comp shop and bring the fan and tell them you need a replacement.

Your PC sounds like a lot of computers that I have serviced, it was full of dust. Yes it sounds like you could have more problems with the fan.

I suggest you buy a can or 2 of compressed air, called air duster and give the insides a really good blow out, do it with care as you can damage parts. You can use this on and around the fan too, do it slowly and make sure you are in a well ventilated area when you are using this spray.

Once you have given a good clean, place it off the floor on a wooden plate or such and try to avoid having it directly on a carpeted floor.

I had the same problem I took a dirt devil and modified the hose to work inside a PC and sucked the dust and cobwebs out of it then if you careful you can put a tiny drop of sewing machine oil on the shaft of the fan it quited down and had no problem but keep it clean and only use a tiny drop or you will trash the fan if you try a eye dropper its not bad if you want to go through all that.

You need new fan. The balls inside the fan make the noise when there are not stable cos by dust and air.
For along period of time you must change the fan inside your computer. I had four fan inside my computer. I already change two of them after a year. The another two using ball bearing which is quite expensive.
The great fan and last longer that is used ball bearing fan. It is quiter and last longer. The cheap one can be also used but you need to change them regularly.
I recommended that you used the cheap one on the case and the ball bearing for the processor. And it will be good iof you had fan on your power suply too. The power suply usually comes in built in fan.

Replace the power supply as soon as you can. In fact, turn your pc off, open up the case, take the current one out and take it to a computer store like CompUSA or Best Buy and buy a new one with the same or slightly higher wattage rating now. If your power supply fails while you are using the PC, it could cause severe damage to your motherboard and other internal parts. The ball bearings in the fan motor are probably wearing out.

RUN!!!! IT'S GONNA 'SPLODE. No, really, I am in no way an expert but I think you should shut it off and really give it a good vacuuming. There could be dust and grit right down in the motor and that will make it over heat or grind up the gears, or whatever is in there. I'm the original computer "DUMMY' but it stands to reason if it's making noise it can't be good. Call the "Geek Squad". Good luck.

It depends on when exactly the sound sounds like. But it might be your power supply. Chances are that is what it is. Buy a new one, about 25-40 bucks, then ask Yahoo Answers people again how to put it in.
