I suggest taking your PC to a computer person must it be a friend or a tech at a shop. It could be the fan , or motherboard. I might just be the fan. This will probably not be an easy problem to solve yourself unless you have more then basic computer knowledge. Most mother boards go for around $100-$200 but it can vary.

Either it be the fan or mobo a tech will find the problem probably but it could cost you money for the tech to take a look at it. Do you have any warranty??

I would recommend taking your PC to a computer repair shop. Youll find them in the yellowpages. I sounds like you could have some major problems. You may indeed have some components burned out on your motherboard. If you were going to ask how much it would cost to replace it, it depends on what kind of specs you are looking for. Unless you are very fond of the case your PC came in and/or you have some other components that still work that are worth quite a bit, I would recommend buying a new PC. When you have a major electrical problem like a burned up power supply, you usually have other parts of the PC get fried too. Sometimes, you cant tell they are burnt up untill you rule out all other parts.

When you plugged in the new power supply did you boot the computer to see if it worked? If it worked even though the fan didn't work, then you need to replace the fan on the power suppy.

If the new power supply did not help at all, then get a pc tech.

Your best bet is to take your system to a reliable computer repair to have your system checked out. It could be a number of things. Trying to diagnose the problem then repair it your self will be more trouble than it is worth. It is always good to get a "check-up" anyway.

Save yourself some time and frustration!
