i have encountered cleaners who come out to my house, who don't dust anything because they are afraid to break something! what is the point of cleaning the house but not doing any dusting? what's the point of me spending time dusting then paying a cleaner!! i want to pay some one to do the whole job, not just bits of it. i have someone new coming this week, what are reasonable expectations?

I figure that if a cleaner doesn't do a part of the job, she's thinking,"I'd rather find another job than do this." If she is seriously concerned about breakage, then that's going to happen.

If you hear more than once that cleaners are worried about damaging your things, then you might have to consider dusting the fragile items yourself or putting them away or in a curio cabinet.

The woman who cleans my house is great, but clumsy and over-energetic. I keep her away from the breakables.

That you give them a list of the duties they are to do!! This allows you to monitor just how thorough they are & if they are worth the money you pay. It also helps them to realise what is expected of them in terms of the job, good luck

Have you possibly scared them away from touching you valuables. If you make a big deal out of how they belonged to your grandma or have some great value., you can make people Leary of destroying your property and having to make them work it off.

you are right.....insist on what chores you want done and if cleaner does not do it then change worker's [if you are using a agency report them to manager] if you are hiring them yourself, insist on it or fire them
