My apartment is the first door of my building off the side door, and the outside is crawling with potato bugs. They come in and down the hall and in under my door! Besides a door sweep, is there anything I can do outside or in the hall that can repel them?

I'm not sure what you mean by potato bugs. Are they a type of beetle? Find out what attracts them and see if you can set up a lure outside, something that will lure them in and then trap or drown them. For example, we have ear wigs and they can be trapped by a low dish with some oil and a few drops of soy sauce mixed into the oil. They find it irresistable and crawl in and drown in the oil. You can trap hundreds of them in one night. Call your local agricultural co-op or ag extension of a local university and maybe take a bug to show them. They may be able to come up with an acceptable lure. Good luck.

I'm betting these are not potato bugs, as they are very specific to the potato plant. So unless you are growing potatoes in your apartment, what you are seeing is probably the Chinese ladybug. They're all around your windows, right? They are notorious for gathering in warm houses when the weather cools. They are harmless but a nuisance. The best control I've found is simply to keep vacuuming them up.

I would sprinkle boric acid powder along the outside of my door and the outside of the building. Or you could use Sevin powder it will kill them too.
