make sure any windshield you buy is adjustable.
It may take a few height adjustments to get the airflow just right.
If the windshield is too low, you will know because the airflow will hit your helmet and want to rip it off.
I would install at the highest setting and gradually reduce the height until you find the sweet spot. Bring the wrenches w/ ya and find a nice highway to cruise down.

I actually have a Savage. precise now i'm working and not employing a look after -- yet i'm working city commuting and hardly hop onto the expressway. If i'll be doing a lot of a expressway run i will positioned on the nationwide Cycle Flyscreen. 9" x 9" does not do a area for preserving wind off the face, whether it does shrink the wind tension on the physique that tries to shove you backward off the motorbike. The Flyscreen seems neat and ineffective, whether it actual does do a clever job. Come iciness and those icy palms caressing your neck; or on excursion with six to 10 hours an afternoon contained in the saddle, I mount the nationwide Cycle highway look after -- in basic terms 17" tall, yet in basic terms sufficient to place the windstream at hairline top and stale the face. sufficient that i will get via donning colorings particularly than goggles. sufficient to maintain that icy wind faraway from the neck. the two one is on/off in in basic terms a couple of minutes.

Yea I know what ya mean!!!!! So here is what I did. I bought the brackets, the detachable ones for my Heritage Springer and windsheild and when I'm running around town I leave it off and when I go for a lingride down the highway I put the windsheild on to cut down on the wind. I lose a little bit of mpg but so what!!! As for the look, well, thats why I bought the quick detachable brackets so when criusing the town I take it off and when I'm going on a long ride I put it on. Reduces fatigue immensly on the long haul

Good investment for any motorcycle -- I've driven on very long drives, and the fatigue of fighting the wind as you are zipping along the interstate or highway is one of the reasons. Plus, there are always things being kicked up by other vehicles on the road -- so this is just another level of protection for you.

All the HD windshields look funny on anything but the full dress models. Just the way it is, mine on the softail, looks silly, but works. I use it on long trips to cut the wind and rain if it happens too.
My suggestion if you want cool looking and effective, go look at Corbin site. They have a fairing and a electric wind fairing, which is small but very effective and cool looking.

i know exactly how you feel, i have always thought the worst (appearance wise) thing you can do to a bike. but i bought one for riding in colder weather, to keep the wind off. and planned on taking it off as soon as it warmed up. but as i found out i love the windshield so much it will never come off. get a windshield you wont get tired riding, because the wind isnt always trying to rip you off the bike. it is great!!!

Ideally, a good windscreen will direct the wind around you and guard against bugs like the other answers say. One other benefit people often overlook is that the windscreen helps create downforce on your front wheel making the bike's ride a little more stable.

Even a short windshield will give you some relief from wind and faitque. The same will not give much protection from rain.

There are more pro's here than con's. Haven't you heard the old saying: How do you tell how happy a bike rider is?
You count the bugs in his teeth.
I would not ride without a shield, No need to be macho about riding a bike,
