Which average? The median proof of vodka, where as many with a higher proof are sold as those with a lower proof, is probably 80 proof, or 40 percent alcohol.
The mean proof of vodka is probably slightly higher, because there is quite a bit of 100 proof vodka sold, but not enough to raise it much past 82 or 83 proof. Mean is the sum of proofs of all bottles of vodka sold divided by numbers of bottles sold.
