The Maya or Aztec Indians had a calander which ended Dec 21, 2012. One theory why the calandar abruptly ends is that is the date of the end of the world. My personal theory is they ran out of rock or got real tired of carving dates in rock so just quit. =P
As for the teacher- not an apropraite subject to be teaching as fact- S/he should be removed.

It isn't a forgone conclusion and she should be teaching you to not telling you what she thinks. This is a theory that is based on a radical interpretation of the Mayan Codex. She doesn't sound like a very good teacher actually. I personally wouldn't put it past the Maya's to predict the end, but they believed in beginnings following their endings, so I don't think it will be the end of the world. The trick with a prophecy is it is potentially self-fulfilling, making it a dangerous idea.

Several people have made that prediction, I was thinking it was 2011 though. That's only 5-6 years away, so I have to belive it will not happen. It will make you go crazy if you do. Maybe this is why so many people are acting crazy. They think the world is ending, and no longer care what happens here. Maybe their great great grandparents believed that it would end in 2011, and they inherited this. Who knows. Try not to worry too much.

There have been so many doomsdays predicted. There's a new one every day. Ooops! The world is going to end Sunday, September 10, at 9:10 p.m in the year 2910.
No one can really say when this hunk of dirt is going to be sick of us. We just have to live each day to the fullest.

First of all, that " sub" should never be allowed to teach in any school again !!!
Who was she ? Sylvia Browne ? LOL !!!
No one knows when the world is going to end but God himself, and in His own time.
It's not for us to know....it's for us to be ready,
Do you remember on New Year's Eve , 1999, so many people thought that all kinds of bad things were going to happen.? All electricity would be knocked out, which meant no computers etc.
My Aunt and Uncle really believed it and had their garage PACKED with canned foods, bottled water,a generator, and just all kinds of stuff ! I cracked up laughing at them !
If you believe in God and what the Bible says, it clearly states that no one will know until it happens. ( Not even an evidently dumb substitute teacher! )
OH ! And there was also the huge meteor that was supposed to hit us and wipe out mankind, but we're still here!
It's truly a shame what you guys are being taught in schools today !

I think someone needs to talk to the principal about hiring some new sub teachers that can focus on teaching the kids hard scientific facts and leave the hoodoo voodoo psychic stuff at home.
