When say, a kid says my friend is threatening to kill themselves or a women says what do I do in the event of a divorce or a man wants to know about child support payments or anything really on this category, wouldn't the best, advisable, safe, intellegent and sensible answer be to seek out a Counselor posthaste? There are plenty of free professional personal and programs available in every city.

Not everyone is logical or use common sense. Some are looking for answers that they really know the answers too. Just trying to find a easy way out of their problems. Hopefully for them, they sort through the jibberish and find some advise to seek the help of professionals.
Interesting question.

I agree. Many times I tell people that very thing, seek professional help.

I think that people are one here posting legal or other in depth questions, is that they want to know right now what to do. They aren't sure how to handle the problem, and they don't know how to act. If another person has been in the same situation, they may be able to give advice about how to proceed.

A woman who has been through a divorce can tell a woman who is afraid of one, that there is life after marriage. Besides the smart thing of seeking a lawyer, she could also recommend social services, women's shelters, names of support groups, and many other things that can be helpful. There are kinds of help that people need other that counseling.

Sometimes all they want is a caring person to listen to their problems. So many people are lonely, bored, scared, depressed, etc... and all they want is a friend to talk to. Often, people will contact the person who gave them a sympathetic answer and strike up a conversation. They don't really need professional help, they need attention, affection, understanding, and a warmth in their lives that they aren't getting elsewhere. If there were people close to them to help them, they wouldn't be posting their problems here.

Even though we are mostly strangers here, it always helps to have a friend help you make those decisions. This way it is easier to take those next important steps. Its nice to have a shoulder to lean on in times of despair.

That's very true. Be careful how you use the words "higher authority" though. People think you're talking about God when you say that.
