Where can I get good pizza in St. Louis that is not "St. Louis style"? The traditional St. Louis style pizza is thin crust, round but cut into squares(?!), provel cheese (yuck). I'm talking thick crust, mozzarella cheese, cut the way a pizza should be cut. Closer to the deep-dish Chicago style even, but at least not the "St. Louis style" in St. Louis is what I'm looking for. Thanks! :)

I like Fortel's Pizza Den. They have several locations. Here is their web site: http://www.fortelspizzaden.com/.

I also greatly enjoy Cicero's, in University City, on Delmar. Here is their pizza menu: http://www.ciceros-stl.com/menu.aspx?id=piz

Probably Imo's is the chain& the cheese was provel. I am a native St Louisan who moved to Florida, and get my provel cheese shipped to me on line from Jhon Vivianno & Sons in St. Louis. I have a pizza parlor down here that does a thin crust pizza for me that is very close to what I got back in St. Louis. I am happy with the combination and enjoy it as much as I were sitting in Imo's back in my home town. I hope I have answered all you questions. If not E Mail at gusm1292@yahoo,com

I would also reccommend Uno's because they have Chicago style pizza. They are in Chesterfield and Kirkwood. If you don't mind ordering by mail there was a pizza place that I went to in Chicago that had excellent pizza and they will ship it to you. www.giordanos.com.
I totally agree St. Louis don't know how to make pizza. You can tell I am not from here.

Fortel's Pizza Den
7932 Mackenzie Rd
St Louis, MO 63123-2721
(314) 353-2360

The brisk business that rolls through the door is a testament to the scrumptious pizza they serve. Rated best by Citysearch

This probably won't answer your question, but I hear Black Thorn Pub on Wyoming(?) I think, has the best damn pizza in town. Joanies in Soulard has good thick crust and uses mozzarella. Johnny's meat pie at Joanies is great!!!! Screw Papa John's, We have great local food!!!! Heard Vito's on Lindell has great pizza too. I have just been stuck on Joanies for awhile!

If you're looking for Chicago style, try Pizzeria Uno in Kirkwood or Chesterfield.

One word....
Raccanelli's Pizza.

I'm from NJ and it's the closet to Jersey Pizza that I've found.

I also heard that the Black Thorn pub was good ( but haven't tried it).
