I know it is a fashion no-no to wear white after Labor Day. Does the same rule apply to an all white purse?

Everyone noticed that Katie Couric wore white after Labor Day on the news. Are they kidding? That rule went out the window. White is fine any time of year, especially if you live in a warmer climate.

If the purse is white straw or something summery, then I'd put it away. But if it's white leather, wear it.

As for white shoes, I think they look too much like "nurse shoes" unless they're sandals or they have some cute beading or other decoration on them.

Absolutely.

Defy stodgy antiquated fashion "rules"!

I mean come on. If you think about it. . . when the heck can you wear white again? Do you just wait a while until you see your neighbors wearing white again? People always say "don't wear white after Labor Day" and everyone has their own version of what exactly this "rule" encompasses but I've never heard of a length of time or timetable being mentioned. So then, I guess you can never white all-year round since technically, August 29 is still after Labor Day. Count a few months FORWARD after Labor Day and every single day is after Labor Day.

Wear white. Be free. It's not 1888 anymore.

The rule tradtionally applies to wearing white shoes after Labor Day. Noone really follows the traditon today. I would not wear a white purse during the fall but feel free to do whatever you want.

I always was taught no white shoes or purses and some types of clothing after labor day and prior to Easter-but I don't think anyone sees those things a fashion wrongs anymore. I still feel a little uncomfortable though!

the "don't wear white after labor day" no longer applies. You can even wear spring colors in the winter.
