Depends. If you mean "when Katrina hit" I'm sure God didn't decide to kill or make homeless tens of thousands of Black people. Anymore than He decided that race played a factor during the Tsunami.
If you mean efforts made by the Mayor, the Governor and Bush and Fema, well they were all sadly lacking. But they were "sadly lacking" because no one realized the significant impact of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans had survived other hurricanes. I think everyone just thought it would be bad. but not THAT bad.
As for the aftermath, Bush visited. I really believe this man did not realize the severity of the situation anymore than the Mayor and Governor knew.
We saw a lot of video showing Black people. It was the saddest thing I ever saw. But
there were a lot of white people also.
Its just that the Black people were more visual. and the media, well it tends to be a little slanted.
but that's another story.
So Bush pumps money into New Orleans. And of course, the money, the BIG money, slides first inside the pockets of the big contractors.....
Some of those people affected by Katrina didn't even receive the first two thousand dollars...In fact some of them received nothing.
...and for those that live on the east coast, don't be too judgmental.....because you never know what nature has in store...or where she will strike next..........

The hurricane did not have anything to do with race. I do believe, however, that the poor, who happen to be black, were the ones who were hit the hardest because of where they could afford to live. I do not believe that the delay in response had anything to do with race. It had to do with the fact that no one was prepared for what happened when the levies broke. It was such a disaster that everyone was in shock instead of in rescue mode. I remember the day after it happened, the hometown I come from in Central Illinois set up places for items to be donated to help those who were impacted by the hurricane. I was proud to be a part of a relief effort that was only a day in the making. Even though we were a long distance from the horror, we saw the pain in the faces of the people there and didn't care what color they were. They were Americans reaching out for help, and we were Americans doing what we were able to do to help. What it comes down to is, not color, race, ethnic backgrounds or anthing else, it is helping our people whoever they are, get the help they need when they need it. If anthing is to blame it is the people running our government, they were the ones who failed them not the American people.

No, I don't. I think a lot of stupidity was involved. On the governments part, on all levels, and to some degree some of the residents. Hurricanes can be bad, thats a no-brainer, but the responses were stunning. I agree with Tammy G, I live in a small town in southwest Kansas, and people were very giving, filling trucks with provisions, etc. But I was also shocked, and heartbroken to see footage of people firing guns at rescue helicopters, and people just being so hateful. I sure don't remember seeing that hate on 9/11.

No, it had to do with weather. The delay in rescue was caused by bureacracy.
Check out Spike Lee's documentary, "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts." Some people in that documentary try to play the race card (Harry Belafonte, shame on you!). But it's an excellent film focused on the residents of the 9th ward of New Orleans.

no, not at all, I think that people choose to pull out that race card because of the fact that new orleans had areas such as the lower 9th ward that was mostly poor black people, that the city does not want to rebuild due to it being so far below sea level..it should not have been built on to begin with, I think race is just an excuse for more pity in this case

with the aid of fact the different individual stated, Spike isn't into white people, and that i will't watch it with the aid of fact we'd have the full blame game element going on in overdrive. continuously the harmless waif minority being placed down with the help of the guy.....hasn't developed one bit from the Black Panther mentality in overdue 60's Blaming by no skill performed something, and is infantile. Spike Lee has been playing the race card for years, eliciting the "white guilt" strings like a grasp violinist. you may get purely thus far with the help of blaming the "guy". Thats why I wont watch or learn the hot katrina documentary

No. It just so happened that many are African-American residing there. Hurricanes don't choose their destination. It is an atmospheric condition that hits certain geographical locations. Nothing to do with race.

I am not qualified to answer the question, but if it means that many ****** were hit at the same time, I imagine it was because they were living in the same areas of the city.
I have happy memories of the old town, and its association with trad jazz, and was sad to hear of its destruction.
P.S. Does pathowitz mean pathological?

For some yes, for others no. People vary and one can not lump all in one basket. As a group Zionists are the worst racists as they follow Talmud which regards all non Jews as talking animals whose slughter is perfectly kosher and the God forgives all their sins on Yom-e-Kapur including rape, murder, deception, cheating without even asking for forgiveness and the fact is USA is a slave servant of Zionists. On the direct order of Zionists Bush is abusing USA army and resources on his global terorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. SInce Zionists are controlling USA it is understanable if the blacks and poor are not given due rights. They even threw the blood donated by Black African Jews from Israeli Blook Banks
