I have a similar problem with my dishwasher! It took me a while to figure out where the grit was coming from.

Have you checked the little trap thing in the bottom? Sometimes it needs to be cleaned out.

Check the racks on the sides to see if they are cracked or peeling. My racks have a groove that catches the soap and then sends it back onto the dishes.

You may also want to try one of the products for hard water; this might help if buildup is the culprit. Also try using a little less detergent or a liquid form.

As a last resort dry washing the dishes but not using the dry cycle. It could be soap or something staying on the dishes and getting baked on.

You may just end up finding it easier to wash things by hand! Argh!

Good luck!

I'm sure your dishwasher drain line is hooked to the garbage disposal. Make sure the drain line under the sink is lifted up. What I mean is this. Open cabinet and find the black or white drain line coming out of the disposal. If it comes out of disposal and goes straight down under the cab to the dishwasher, Pull out some slack and tie it up so that the line is above where it comes out of disposal. I've seen that a few million times.

that gritty stuff is from the pipes, the only way is to flush out all the pipes.and really take apart the dishwasher and clean the pipes to from the washer.

did you switch to a different detergent? My dishes used to be like that, then I switched to the best detergent, with a good rinsing agent, and the dishes are now sparkling
