Well, if you mean people who are involved with semi-slavery and/or children-sex, then I have no idea why they are not arrested. They ought to be.
But if you mean peope who are polygamists in the sense of there being more than two people mutually married, then although I am personally against it, who am I or you to stop others from doing it? I mean, what is the big difference between what you asked and asking, instead, "Why don't they go into San Francisco and arrest the Gays."?

First of all, you have to have the testimony of those whom were VICTIMIZED by the Polygamist Predators -- which is tricky, as the only thing they know is the SLAVERY they were born into -- and they were brought up to believe that females have very little say in the way their lives will unfold.
Secondly, these isolated and extremist communities on the fringes of society are dangerous to the extreme -- after all, do you remember Waco TX? Most are armed to the teeth -- having who knows what in their hidden arsenals, and as all extremists ... they have very warped ideas about justice and faith -- warped by the fact that they have been raised with pervisions of religious writings interpretations -- and there is nothing that anyone can do or say or even by showing them the actual texts -- they will STILL insist what was "programmed" into them from a very early age.
Then the entire town community is staffed by their members, all businesses and property are owned by the members -- if you SPEAK OUT, you not only lose your family (and the only support system you know), but you also have NOTHING, not the clothes on your back, not the land your (former) home sits on, not your (former) home, not your garden, not your furniture, not your children or spouse, etc -- NOTHING is yours anymore. You have NO INCOME, no place to live, NOTHING... The Staff that sits at the top CONTROLS every thought, every movement, every family gathering, every THING and that (Too) is dangerous in the extreme.

The reason that they don't is because many of the "Polygamists" don't marry more than one woman - they marry the first woman, and then just have others live with them and they are "wives" in the eyes of the community and the man. So in the legal sense, they are not breaking any laws.
The thing that they went after Warren Jeffs for is that he arranged marriages between older men and young girls - some as young as 14. Because he "arranged" the marriages, he is breaking the laws of the state, and the government as well. So basically, he is a pimp for the pedophile sect. Sick, ain't it?

They dont go and arrest them because here in the United States they have to "prove" their case in a court of law. As long as the women in volved wont testify in court they have no proof of actual marriage. Many of the polygamists are married in the church but not married in the legal sense of the word, therefore its hard to prosecute them.

at one time the state of AZ, yes Colorado City is in AZ, did arrest the men there and the women filed for welfare. But because non of the women or children would testify against the men, all it did was cost the state a lot of money.
Maybe this time will be different

It is because they live in Utah where their religion is legal to be preformed there. I remember see a story on TODAY back in 1999(Damn I'm getting old! LOL) where a man was on there with his 9 wives and all of them talking about how happy they are & all that jazz. Nothing can be done about it unless the law is changed. If you do that though, it goes against everything that america stands for. That is how america was formed. It also goes into everyone's moral standards about it. If i go on with this topic, we will be here forever. So I'll just stop now...

As I understand it there isn't enough room to house all the offenders in the jails. And it is further complicated as a lot of the law enforcement personnel are polygamists as well.

The people on the news when they arrested the leader, said it was because they don't have enough jail space if they actually arrested all of the polygamist.
And again why is it just the man who is jailed, the ladies also marry someone with other wives.

Good Question.. what is wrong with our laws.. since when can older men practically sell young women into marriage...this is not the 1700's. Our governments on all levels should be held accountable and should be very ashamed! It disgusts me!
