Dan Blocker aka Hoss Cartwright was born in 1928. He was born in DeKalb, Texas, the son of Ora Shack and Mary (Davis) Blocker. He attended Texas Military Institute and later graduated from Sul Ross State Teacher's College with a degree in the dramatic arts. He reputedly worked as a bouncer in a beer joint while a student. By all accounts he is remembered from his school days for his size of 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) and weight of 300 pounds (136 kg), and as being good-natured despite his intimidating size. He died suddenly after gall bladder surgery.
Meat Loaf was born Marvin Lee Aday in 1947 in Dallas Texas. Blocker was 19 at his birth so he could technically have been the father. However, there are no sources suggesting that he was Meat Loaf's father. Meat Loaf changed his first name to Michael in 2001.
Indeed, Meat Loaf did not get on well with his father. In his autobiography To Hell and Back: An Autobiography, he tells several storis of his father's drunken behaviour. He ran away at 19 in 1967 because his father's behaviour was getting more violent.
Meat Loaf will be releasing Bat out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose with a new single coming out shortly.
