Some people play tennis because it's fun, my dad and brother do.

What is your motivation?

As a tennis coach, it seems you like tennis as you are part of the school tennis club. I've been witnessing guys who learn tennis in only 6 months - they have not been pros but at least they learn some basic strokes and can eventually enjoy a tennis party among friends.
You said you have only 2 years time - tennis is a lifelong game, everyone can play this game(it is meant for every age groups).
What I advice you is to NEVER QUIT - be a fist fighter - watch many tennis matches - if you enjoy it you can practice it even outside the school hours or afterwards.
On the "search engine" you can find many websites which can give free tennis tips.
I'd like to ask you some questions: Do you live for others? Are you studying to satisfy others? So, be natural, be yourself, play at your own pace. Don't look around and feel stupid coz others are better! PLAY TENNIS BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT AND YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS!

Stick with it! I played tennis during my junior and senior year in high school. And, I wasn't good at all, I was terrible...the coach only worked on the top three player and left the rest of us to ourselves. So, I basically stayed the way i was. When I got to college, I took a beginners tennis class, and learned more than a coach could ever teach me. I finally understood the technique.

In HS, I had a bad and slow serve, but now I'm serving at high speed! There were times that I thought about giving up, but i didn't. I really enjoyed playing tennis and no one will ever get me to stop. When you pick up something, it stays with you for life.

You'll be able to play until you're old, and you'll see the results in your body. I know a lady who is 75 years old, who still moves around like a 40 year old. She played tennis for fun her whole life ,and now she is healthy and strong as can be. Stick with it, look to the future. In my future, I will personally be teaching my future children and wife how to play, so that I will have plenty of competitiion and fun! :O)

Do you enjoy the game? I played in Jr High, I even was pretty good and came in I think 3rd in the city finals.. but I think it more important to decide if you like the sport.

If you do, then rather than get the defeatist attitude that they are all better than you, relish that you get to play against such good opponents. It is the caliber of the opponent that actually made the game fun for me, and made me a better player.

If you decide you don't like the game enough to continue, then I suggest you try some other sports to see which you do like best.

Now that I am older and have bad knees, have rather taken to bicycle touring. Some people I know love golf.. there are plenty of sports to choose from and a physical activity makes for a healthier happier life.

You are in the perfect position to get better quickly.

Here is my story except it involves chess. I love chess and while in the Air Force I had a roommate who bought all the chess moves books and always beat the socks offf me. He beat me probably 85% of the time.

BUt when I played someone else, I was great.

So I think you should stick with it and get beat all the time. You will emerge a much better tennis player. Good Luck

If you are enjoying it don't give it up. You will probably get as good as the others if you just keep practicing. How good do you want to be? Good enough to compete or just good enough to play with friends. If I didn't have such a bad knee I would have loved to learn how to play the game. Stick with it.

Do you enjoy it? Are you able to get beat and still have a good time? Think of it as an opportunity to sharpen your skills for free with some talented people.
