Yep. Well you can always remember it as "Med" which is like medium which is in the middle.

For the most part yes. Medieval times go back much farther as well, but do include the middle ages.

A cloistered monk had different duties than a parish priest. All were occupied in prayer starting with matins very early in the morning and there was also vespers and compline. When not in prayer, the monks had assigned duties ranging from cooking and cleaning to care of the livestock and gardening. Every religious establishment had some sort of industry as well whether it was winemaking, growing money crops, or craftsmanship (could include copying manuscripts in the scriptorium). Monks with the necessary skill and patience tended the sick. Most abbeys also had guest houses for weary pilgrims on their way to or from some religious shrine.
