I'm 6 weeks pregnant and facing a lot of problems, mostly with my digestive system. I feel hungry all the time (OK, to be exact, starving all the time), but when I eat I feel completely full right after the first bite and can't force myself to take another bite, and then 10 minutes later I'm starving again. Also I start to burp a lot, eating or not eating. Burping continuously all day. I used to be able to hold my burp real good but now if I hold it I'll feel nauseous right away. Also my lips are always dry as a rock, even though I'm drinking twice as much water as usual. Anybody have any idea why is it happening and how to stop it (especially the burping part)?

The burping may be caused by a hiatal hernia (stomach moves up and gets caught in the diaphragm), this is very common in pregnancy. Hiatal hernia can lead to all sorts of digestive disorders, because you won't be able to properly digest meats, or absorb certain vitamins. Find an alternative health care practitioner who adjusts hiatal hernias, they will be able to check if you have one. Most medical doctors won't do anything about it.

Is it just your lips, or are the corners of your mouth affected too? Cracked/bleeding mouth is called chelosis and is caused by a b vitamin deficiency (B2 riboflavin). There are several different pre-natal vitamins out there, it could be that the one you are taking does not work with your body. A good b complex supplement, added to whatever you are already taking should help overall.

Another cause of dry lips is simply dehydration. I know that you are drinking more water, but you may need to avoid liquids that act as diuretics (pull water out of your body). Diuretic beverages include coffee, tea, soda, and alcohol. Dehydration may also explain the sensation of starving. Sometimes when your body is thirsty, it will give you the sensation that you are hungry. The next time you feel like you are starving, drink half a glass of water and then wait five minutes and see if the sensation subsides.

Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do without harming your baby. Tums and GasX are generally okay to take and can help. What you're describing is totally normal and to be expected for many women. It's best to eat 6 small meals per day rather than 3 at longer intervals - this also helps. Eating healthy foods also helps - stay away from the grease and junky foods. Make sure you're taking a good prenatal vitamin with plenty of folic acid and iron in your regimen.

You may be in need of a certain vitamin, mineral or fat. Instead of trying to eat a big meal all at once just eat a little bit all day long. Make that PB and J last an hour if you have to. Eat light foods like yogurt or crackers instead of cheeseburgers or pizza. Gas is highly common in all women during pregnancy. I was very flatulent and I just blamed it on last nights Taco Bell or this mornings chocolate milk. I would leave my work cell nearly every 15 mins. to fart. Don't hold gas in because it can make you sicker. As for the dry lips rub aloe and Vaseline on them when they feel dry or a moisturizing lip balm wit SPF. Drinking water actually causes dry lips. Don't stop drinking water though. If you are worried see your doctor about it.

This is simply, because you are pregnant. Everyone has different things happen to them, this is yours. Your baby or baby's are taking things from you to grow. So no matter how much water you take in, they are taking it, so you need extra. For you lips they are usually dry when pragnant, just keep using some chapstick. Also, ask your doctor if prevacid is okay during pranancy if it is, take it. It works wonders for the stomach. Id take it in the morning, better for ya. Also, take the prenancy pills, it helps all of what is happening to you, and gives you extra vitamens for you and your baby to stay healthy. I cant rememer what it is called, but it is in the vitamin, pill aile in any walgreens, or walmart, cvs, etc. The box is pink. The bottle is pink and white. It's a kind of vitamin. Good luck!

It's a normal part of pregnancy. You can try ginger pills/candy to help ease digestions. I am 8 weeks along and I am also burp-y and my lips are dry, too. It usually eases after the first trimester.

You're going to burp and if you try to stop it it will just come out the other end!!(Another side effect of pregnancy!). Just eat lots of small meals all day long. It's actually what you should be doing even if your body wasn't letting you know. It sounds like you're having a healthy pregnancy, don't fight it.

The only thing that worked for me was lots of ginger ale and saltine crackers every time I felt sick. Some iced tea is good for the thirst too. If feeling hungry try to have some fresh fruit handy.

I'm 23 weeks and 4 days and I still have bad gas :) It's very embarrassing... I teach kindergarten though, so there aren't any other adults around...

Welcome to pregnancy! It sound like you are having some problems with indigestion. I took some Maalox chewable tabs with my last pregnancy. I had terrible indigestion. I always felt full but I could never burp. A little baking soda in some water helps too. But, check with your doctor first before you take anything.

It's just part of being pregnant. My husband used to joke with me and say I could win any burping contest while being pregnant.
