I'm totally against abortion. I hate abortion. I loathe abortion. I believe abortion is wrong and would NEVER EVER EVER EVER get an abortion. But I AM prochoice because I don't think the government or anyone for that matter has the right to control my body nor my mind.

If think you can tell me what I can or cannot do with my body, you are giving me the message that you think im stupid and that you do not value or have confidence in my own judgement.

Abortion is also a medical procedure btwn me and my doctor. Since when does ANYONE have the right to sift through my medical records????

This is like saying, "I'm totally against child abuse. I hate child abuse. I loathe child abuse. I believe child abuse is wrong and would NEVER EVER EVER EVER abuse a child. But I AM prochoice because I don't think the government or anyone for that matter has the right to control my body nor my mind as I abuse a child."

We don't have laws against child abuse because we think that all parents are stupid and because we don't have confidence in their judgement. We have laws against child abuse because it is wrong and because some people, given the chance, will harm those weaker than themselves.

But, you may argue, in the case of child abuse, a woman's body is not the only body involved. There is another body involved, that of the child. The exact same thing is true in the case of abortion. The woman's body is not the only body involved. There is another body, a body that has a beating heart just three weeks after conception.

What is it exactly that you find objectionable about abortion? If it is in fact murder and the worst kind of child abuse, then it SHOULD be against the law, because it is those who are weak and helpless who most need the protection of our laws.

If you doubt that abortion is murder, take a look at:

No. They are unrelated concepts.

The thing about the abortion debate is that the two sides are arguing entirely unrelated issues. Pro-life people say "abortion is bad". Pro-choice advocates say "The government not should be making personal decisions that like". It's not about abortion. It's about who gets to make the decisions.

Face it -- someone is going to choose. It's either going to be the individual, or it's going to be the majority (through enacted laws). If the majority gets to choose, then they are effectively imposing their belief system -- which is almost always religiously-based -- on everyone.

The concept of reproductive freedoms is not whether you agree with the individual choices being made. It's whether you think the government should have the right to take away and mandate those choices.

Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

Pro choice people are mostly against abortion but they are pro choice because they believe that the woman has the right to make the decision on their own. People always get that miscontrued. I'm pro-choice even though I don't like the idea of abortion because I don't feel I have the right to tell a woman what she should do because I don't know her or her life or even her situation. I would like abortion to be a last option for a woman but I accept that in the end it all comes down to what that woman wants.

I my self am Pro-life I think that it should be illegal however I think you can be pro-choice and anti abortion at the same time in that case you would feel that its not your choice to push your morality on to anther person there is no issue that is completely black and white there are always places in between there is however one thing I would like to say "If think you can tell me what I can or cannot do with my body" because when ever I get in this debate I hear this and I think that is wrong you are not making a design about your body when deciding weather or not to abort a baby. A woman's body douse not have two beating harts, two blood types, two heads, four legs, four arms and four eyes. A pregnant woman has all this and more. and what about when shes pregnant with a male baby? that's not her body. its a unique, baby growing in her womb.

This is an excellent point explaining the difference between pro-choice and anti-choice. It isn't about whether abortion is murder. It's not about whether abortion is a good or bad thing to do. It's about WHO makes the choice...the pregnant woman, or the politicians.

And those links to pictures of aborted fetuses is bogus! 8 week fetuses don't have formed legs and arms...they look more like tadpoles at that stage of development. The anti-choice movement has many religiously fanatical components that ultimately discredit their own motives. Leave god out of the choice for women to say what they will and won't do with their own bodies. And especially, shame on women who think it's ok for our corrupt government to force them into childbearing. Women fought hard for the rights they now have...don't send us back to the dark ages for dangerous abortions.

I believe abortion is murder but I am pro-choice! Its not my choice and my own personal beliefs should have no wieght on someone else's choice. Especially since I am a man so I dont fully understand the issue. No one has the right to make a choice like that for anyone else. If you disagree with something then dont participate, but stay outta everyone else's affairs.

Pro-Choice is very different from being Pro-Abortion

In my opinion abortion is wrong but I still feel that a woman should have the opportunity to make that choice for herself and someone else (especially the goverment) has no place making that decision for them

for everyone that is against abortion. what if you had a daughter that was raped? what if you yourself or a family member was a victim of an incest rape? what if a family member's life was in danger just from carrying the child. if all abortions are illegal then none of the above scenarios will be allowed to be aborted. i lost a close friend to suicide because she was raped by a family member. if having an abortion was an option for her i am sure she would be alive today.

you make sense........
and i don't think being pro-choice means that you are pro-abortion...
but i do fear that abortion is used by some people as a form of birth control when they could do a few simple things to prevent needing an abortion in the first place and that pisses me of

Being ProChoice is agreeing that while personally you may or may not agree with the operation, it is a apolitical medical decision best left to the one making it. It should not be used as a political platform for a struggling politician.

Pro choice is a euphemism for pro abortion. It sounds better and gives politicians the excuse that they are pro choice but against abortion. You have to wonder how doctors who took an oath can perform abortions, i.e. end a life. I guess when money speaks, morals disappear.
