I would guess hat the eyes, as such, do nothing unusual, but - that since the tear glands are producing the tears, that the tissues around your eyes "swell" due to this fluid build-up, before the tears actually show.

the amount of emotion causes a temporary disbalance in chemicals, causing your body to heat up slightly, mainly your face becouse of the expressions you make. this triggers a cooling system in your eyes, tears.

tear glands are pressuried tears come out thats what happens
