I know the sun is what makes the earth spin, but in a billion years when the sun dies out, do you think the earth would drop?

The sun is NOT what makes the earth spin.

The earth spins on its axis due to rotational inertia.

No, Earth will keep orbiting the Sun until the Sun enters its red giant phase in about 5 billion years. At that point the Sun will swell up until it swallows Earth. So, no earth will not fall into the Sun, but will grow until it occupies all of Earth's orbit. So, when the Sun does die, Earth will already be gone.

If the earth were to stop rotating, all life would cease to exist. One side would most likely freeze due to no sunlight and the other side would probably burn due to constant sun exposure. Don't believe all that garbage out life ending in 2012. There have been many false predictions over the years. If it happens, it happens when it happens and there will be nothing you can do about it. Live life the best way you can.

Gravity is what makes things fall. Earth being a large body in space, small things near it fall to it (if they are in range of the earth's gravitational force). So whether earth spins or not, to where would it fall?
More likely when the sun nears burn out, it will become a nova or supernova and flare out and burn earth to a crisp or blow up and thus blow earth to smithereens.

I hate to scare you but the Earth is slowing down. It will stop some day. The sun will go Red Giant and burn it to nothing first. All of this is so far in the future that I doubt that humans will be around for it.

earth will never stop to spin and the sun will get more and more bigger and a day will come when it will blast away and create a black hole; where every thing will be no match for. yet scientists believe that within this type of happenings the earth will be moved in a much good orbit in order to save the planet, might be sounds humor but it true.

the projection is 2012 on the computor the magnetic output of the world which is related to the speed of the spinning comes to a halt at 2012
the earth has been spinning slower and slower ,for a long time .just one of the many reasons for global warming
the days are longer in the sun
although we would never be aware of the change in speed .
according to the HOPI WE WILL START SPINNING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION THIS WILL CAUSE A REVERSEL OF ALL WATER AND AIR BODIES GIANT TIDAL WAVES AND STORMS
will wipe out most of the life on earth
we wont fall any where we are floating in space you know ,and space has no bottom or top.

no, the earth can not fall because there is no gravity and the only way it could stop spinning is by falling out of its orbit but it would not fall.. It would just change its way and speed.. Please!!! pick me as your best answer

The sun won't die it will turn into a red giant and destroy the first three planets of the solar system

the earth is actually slowing down. its bacause of the moon. the moon, as you know causes tides around the world. because of the fricton cause but the water, the earth is slowing down and it will keep slowing down until it matches the moon going around the earth.

also because of this, the moon is moving away from us
