Homeowners associations can pretty much do as they please. They can make rules and regulations and you have no recourse but to follow them or leave. They have more power over you than any Federal, State, or local government. They really should be outlawed.

yes
you can continue grilling
and let them take you to court
where you cna countersue
just becuase it's in a contract does not necessarily make it valid
there have been some sound judges overturning such rules in HOA and in Ca legislation is underway to correct such abuses by HOAs. Keep in mind whne you sue a HOA you are in effect suing yourself since you pay into that.
But I prefer the grease the skeay wheel method
someone is turning you infor the voilation
see who it is...
offer them some good BBQ or something
you can ALWAYS bend the rules
as poeple ALWAYS do
either that or go the blakcmail route
and see what dirt you can dig up on someone ( IRS, cheating, resident status.. ) and work it that way
either way do not take it lying down
now you know why HOAs suck

I'm afraid that they do/can. There was just a story in the news about a Home Owners Association suing a resident for painting his house unauthorized colors. They sent this man a list of acceptable colors. Black and white were on this list, so the man painted his house to look like a b&w spotted cow, there was nothing they could do.
Anti-grilling laws are absurb, I would sent the president of that association a box of coal for Christmas! Ridiculous!!!

I actual have lived in 2 communities that require club of their hoa. the 1st one grew to become into in a huge apartment complicated. the folk who ran the affiliation have been nazi-like. they could stroll around and supply tickets for barking canines (what dogs does not bark whilst somebody is jogging next to their living house?), for leaving a garbage can out previous 5:00 pm on trash day, and a gaggle of alternative stupid regulations. We hated it. Now I stay in an affiliation that makes particular our roads are nicely-maintained. the regulations are not very strict. i in my view relish the affiliation pays for snow plowing because of the fact without it we'd be on our own on condition that this is a small mountain community.

You agreed to abide by the HOA rules and reguations when you bought your house their. That's the price paid for choosing to live in a "nice" neighborhood.

Oh yes, read your contract.........HOA are famous for nitpicky rules and restrictions that can improve the quality of life for the masses while crimping the style of the few.

yes and some HOA also can force you to change the color of your house if they and/or your neighbors don't like at your expense. Beware of HOA when buying or selling property.

If it is stated in the Home Owners Association's Covenants and Restrictions, yes, they do have the power to do that.

Check your bylaws for the condo, if it is in there they sure can. They have rules and regs that everyone has to abide by.
