Most rodents are naturally scared of any unfamiliar object (like a hand). I haven't had guinea pigs for years, but my rats are still scared of being picked up.
If you want to get them used to picked up, you have to do it at least once a day. Give them treats when they come to your hands and while you are holding them, so they will associate being handled with treats.
Guinea pigs are the most trainable rodents, in my experience, but all animals can learn. Eventually you should be able to get them more used to being picked up.

Ive had my guinea pig for 5 years so far. I bought him when he was 3 months old. To this day he will not let me pick him up. He runs and screams as though im going to kill him! But apart from that, he wont leave my side and loves to snuggle up to my chest if im laying on the floor, just as long a i dont touch him lol

Just put yourself in there place, imagine that you are in a cage and all of a sudden a T-Rex opened the lid and tried to pick you up, i bet you would run a squeal like a pig also.

hahah! Yeah its normal, guinea pigs like any rodents are very nervous... try to lure them with food and let them get used to your hands while in the cage and then let them alone climb your hands, this will take time but at the end they should get used to you. You need to be constant though and do it everyday at least 2 times a day. praise them with words.

They are just piggies being piggies. I have 5 that are over 6 years old and only one will let me reach over an pick her up. They all like to be held and petted, but they just don't seem to like being picked up. Once I stop them they will lift up their tummy so I can get my hand under them. It's the rodent instinct in them to run is all.

This is NORMAL... Guinea pigs are prey animals so they automatically respond with this 'panic' sound when they are being 'chased'... get used to it..talk to them gently while in pursuit!
