Next time you purchase anti-virus software, buy McAffee. It comes with a very good pop-up blocker that they update frequently. I've used Norton and others, but McAffee is better. I still get one every once in awhile, but it is rare.

Good luck!

Who are you sharing the computer with? A lot of these GROSS pop ups appear after someone been on a GROSS website looking at GROSS stuff. Might want to look at those around you and tell them to quit that. You can enter the names to be blocked in Internet Options - Privacy - Sites, then click block, to keep you computer from accepting cookies from this site. And of course use a good pop up blocker.

Dont use 2 antivirus softwares together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its very very harmful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for pop-ups u can enable the pop-up blocker feature.

And for security remove Norton. Here are a few options:
There are lots of free anti-virus software out there. Actually, most of them detect virus better than Norton or McAfee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are 5 of the most preferred:
1. AVG:
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/set...
2. Avast:
http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng...
3. Avira:
http://www.filehippo.com/download/d23936...
4. Comodo:
http://www.antivirus.comodo.com/download...
5. Clamwin:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/clamw...
All of these are excellent and reliable. Go for any one and stay protected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you do want an antispyware I would recommend the following:
1.Ewido:-http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/set...
2.AdAware:-http://dw.com.com/redir?pid=10399602&mer...

For firewalls go for:
1.ZoneAlarm: http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/10...
OR 2.Comodo Firewall: http://www.personalfirewall.trustix.com/...

Hope I have helped you.

You need two programs (maybe three). The two I recommend are SpyBot Search & Destroy and AdAware.

The can both be found on this page http://www.malwaresolutions.com/tools_...

Download, install and update both programs.

Restart your computer and tap the F8 key on your keyboard as the computer begins to start - this will give you the option of starting in Safe Mode - see more about running a computer in Safe Mode here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to...

Run full system scans with both programs, they should be able to find the problems and remove them.

Restart the computer in "normal mode" and see what happens.

The third program which I find helpful is HiJackThis (for advanced user, the is a powerful tool!) and Windows Defender - which can be found here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/tools_...

. I have used all of these programs on many computers. I have had a 100% success rate on removing spyware/adware and viruses.

I have also found that using MSCONFIG can be very helpful in removing spyware and adware - see more about MSCONFIG here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to...

Here is a full article on how to remove spyware - check it out - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to_remove_spyware.html
Good Luck!

hi, i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. which is most powerful in popup blocking.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

stay away from porn.

OH and by the way. just having those security measures doesnt do much if you dont run the scans etc to eliminate possible threats... they only block new threats. if something is already on teh computer it wont do anything.

I have a legal and moral obligation to keep my pc 100% clean. And I use an antivirus/spyware program out of Beijing, China.
http://www.filseclab.com -- This program has kept me 100% clean for the past nine years.
Twister Anti-Trojan Virus is absolute state of the art technology that has a real time scanner
that really works. Will scan your memory on start up and continues to run in the background
while you use your pc. Plus this software uses very little CPU resources.
Some examples of how great this program is. If you open a webpage and there is a virus or
spyware embedded in the webpage the scanner will catch the virus in a second and clean.
If you download any type of file including music or a zip file and there is hidden embedded
virus in the file the download will stop and the Twister will clean and stop the download.
I had an experience where the software I download the company used another installer other
then their own. The installer had hidden embedded virus in the installer program.Twister found it and cleaned, plus ended the installation and traced it back to the installer software.
(I wrote the original software company and they now use their own installer).
What is really great is that you only pay a small one time fee for life. You will get frequent
large signature updates, excellent support and they never charge you for any new versions.
There are many other features as auto downloads, and the ability to fix all type of problems with your registry or windows.
The chinese don't believe in the annual fee or paying of new versions like most of the other software companies want to be paid over and over for the original purchase.

I use Zone Alarm free firewall (http://www.zonealarm.com). As a backup even though I have ADSL.I use ewido antispyware / malware. www.grisoft.com --Ewido was purchased by AVG. Ewido is free and will protect you from rogue dialers.
