Yes, there are definitely a number of great alternatives to the iPod.

The Creative Zen Vision:M, now available in 60 GB, comes in a variety of colors, plays video, photos, music, radio and has voice recording capabilities as well as compatibility with subscription music services. The Vision:M has crystal clear audio and was the winner of the CNET.com Editor's Choice award in January 2006. It costs less than iPod, around $260-280 for the 30 GB model.

The smaller, flash-based Zen V and Zen V Plus players are a stylish and compact alternative to iPod Nano. The Zen V had a gorgeous OLED color screen with photo viewing. I own the The Zen V and have had no problems with it--I love it! The Zen V Plus, due out later this month also features video, radio, and voice recoring capabilities. The Zen V and V plus series come in a rainbow of colors and hold up to 4 GB of music. Also, the Zen V Plus won the Cnet Editor's choice award for June '06.

Another option would be the gorgeous iRiver Clix. Currently at 2GB the clix has a large screen for photo and video viewing with text and alarm clock features. Also, unlike the iPod Nano the Clix has great battery life. This was Cnet.com's editor's choice this past May.

Hope this helps!

Salvikicks,

You have to be dumb to want to play music AND movies and not get an iPod! Seriously, the iPod is the best music/movie player on the market hands down. They have the best customer support with the AppleCare and they don't phase out thier product every 5 seconds like Creative or other makers. Goodluck!

yes.

Creative Vision M (Creative puts out a couple of music + video players i do believe)

Toshiba Gigabeat

go check Amazon.com too, they'll help you out.

indeed, iPods suck. they actually do play movies the most smoothly and reliably, but it's pointless considering you hardly get two years (if that, seriously) out of it before they break.
