they normally do ultrasounds around 17 weeks to tell the sex of the baby, and you can get pics too. they might give u one sooner though just to check your due date and other things, but the routine ultrasound is around 17-20 weeks.

I had my first ultrasound at 12 weeks, when the doctor knew the baby would definately be big enough for to see well, and make out the little arm and leg buds.

Then I had a second one at 18 weeks, where we were able to fine out the sex, and the tech looked at everything and told us he was doign good in there.

And then finally, I had a third one done at 42 weeks, to check on everything before I was induced. And it was lucky that they did that last one, because it turned out that he was breech and face up, with his feet and arms up over his head. We had to schedule a c-section for the next day.

If you're talking about those new 3-D ultrasounds, they can be done somewhere aroung the 35 week or later, I think. Any earlier and the baby will look incredibly different than he would after birth. Also, those 3-D scans aren't covered by insurance unless the doctor needs to order one because he suspects a problem.

Good luck, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

My doctor did an ultrasound at 8 weeks, but the fetus only looked like a small lima bean. The 20 week ultrasound gave us a clearer image of a child and we were able to see the sex of the baby.

Good luck!

I had an ultrasound done at 8 weeks just to confirm pregnancy and it was just a little dot on the screen.

you could go in and get an ultrasound done not but you won't see a baby you'll probably see a little dot kinda like a little bubble because it's still a cell right now.

usually around 4 months sometimes later sometimes sooner and it also depends on what kind of ultra sound you get a 4D ultrasound is very clear and you can actually see your baby's face. i had one done at 35 weeks and could see my son's face it was awsome! he looked just like the picture when he was born
