It requires skill, each member is important in it.
sweeping is a skill and balance on ice requires skill.
There is competition, it is in the Olympics, so I question other so called sports, like golf, tennis and ping pong.
Everyone has an opinion as to call it a sport.

You should try it some day... You will see that sweeping the ice for a few hours is definitely more physically difficult than a lot of other stuff that are called sports (baseball, bowling, ...)

When the olympics were on I watched it every morning with my coffee and bagle at work. I didn't really get it, but I enjoyed watching it as much as any other sport.
