I need to get a passport and it took me two and a half months to get a certified copy of my birth certificate. I would like to get a photostat of it ( birth certificate) so that I'll still have a valid-legal copy in case this one ever gets lost, or the real one does not get returned to me.

Thank you!!!

A local notary public can make a copy and stamp it for you. It's easier than bothering with the clerk of courts.

No one will take a photostatic copy for any legal reason. You should be able to go to your state of birth's records department & pick one up or order one through mail or on line. I pays to order more than one copy for such reasons. Good luck!

I just got my birth certificate on Thursday, it took only 5 mins (it might take longer f there is a line) it cost me $15 bucks. There should be a seperate plae for birth and death records.

City Hall the city you were born in can give you copies, as many as you need. or you can go to mi.gov click on forms look for an application for applying for a duplicate of record of birth.

It is only legal as a genuine certified. Anything else is not fully legal.

I believe the clerk of the court can issue you one.
