did anyone besides me, quit watching the cbs evening news because of the new anchor-person?

My hubby agrees with you. He wasn't thrilled and no longer has interest in watching. I am still on the fencepost. I think she is trying to soften the "hardness" of the traditional nightly news concept. Which is a noble plan. I like her and really hope she has success! I don't think she is in over her head- but I do think she is doggie paddeling a little.

Life is so hard now, news is usually not so great, so if CBS can throw in a familiar face to report the news as such, why not? Katie has proven herself to be a trooper, thru the death of her husband and her resolve to be a good Mom and continue to do her job without compromising herself...give her a chance, she's a charismatic woman with a lot to offer in regards to reporting the news...

"Serious news" and "network news shows" no longer belong in the same sentence. Isn't Katie the one who's running a contest for her all important nightly sign off? Walter Cronkite is still living and he can't help jumping in a grave and spinning after hearing that one. I like Katie Couric but frankly she was better off on the Today show where a low regard for serious news was an asset.

She's the most appealing anchor of the three network shows. Brian Williams seems like he's constipated, and Charles Gibson has a knack for slipping in his bias (it's not always verbal). I've only watched her for about 10 minutes though so I guess it's hard to say for certain.

I never watch CBS news and having Katie on there isn't going to influence me to watch it either.

I can't believe on her first night she "reported" on Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby.
Turns out maybe she is not quite making the transition from morning fluff to evening news.

I think she is diffferent. She sits on tables and stuff that Rather woudl never do. I think she likes to show off her legs.
