I have learned from Yahoo! answers that everyone thinks they are a specialist in some department. From the people who give medical advice to legal advice, and have no training or experience in the field, but expect you to take their advice.

My generalizations about what I've seen on this forum and the quality of both some of the questions and answers is as follows:
1. There is often an amazing lack of common sense and erudition, i.e. some of the questions are virtually idiotic and do not lend themselves to any kind of dialogue.
2. There appears to be an appalling lack of awareness about subjects such as history and science. I'm constantly stunned by some of the statements made on this forum.
3. Spelling errors are manifold everywhere on this forum and some of them show an amazing lack of education.
4. In almost every category I've investigated in an attempt to find other reasonably intelligent and articulate people with whom to discuss things, I discover an insistent presence of 12-year old mentality asking inane questions about "why do astronauts wear a space suit?" Try a little reading and research before asking the question...or better yet, ask your parents. If they can't give you an answer, you're in serious trouble.
5. One could not possibly generalize about mankind from Yahoo Answers, because to do so would cause one to shoot one's self in the head out of despair!
Shame on the American educational system for allowing many of these folks to graduate high school. All of you should be forced to read books once in a while and stop wasting time with the mindless pap with which you're constantly bombarding your brains. Television is not a medium of information!

That most people on Yahoo! Answer's cannot simply answer the question. They just answer the way they think the pepole want to hear. Not the way the question really needs to be asked. And people are disrespectful in answering the questions.

yahoo answers does not give us enough information about mankind to make us any hasty generalization. u can say something about mankind, like they prefer to be in front of their pc's instead of interacting with the rest of the living and breathing group of individuals. or people always have questions at the back of their head that cant wait another day.... but to make generalization about mankind...u need more research and statistics to arrive at any conclusion.

From Yahoo answers you can probably make several generalizations about humans.
1. People don't like to concentrate for extended periods of time. Those who put out propaganda get the most attention rather then those who write long winded, intelligent answers. When I say propaganda I don't really mean someone who is trying to convince others of their beliefs because that is common,by propaganda I'm referring to answers that are a sentence long like "Al Gore is the Antichrist."
2. People are not very tolerant. So many people that put out the propaganda that I talked about before(on both sides not just the right) make personal attacks on others because of their beliefs, not because of what type of people they are. That's not to say you shouldn't disagree with people but you shouldn't hate them for it.
3.People sure do like their points. It is not uncommon to see people post answers to questions they dont know anything about just so they can jump up a level and get some points.
There are many others but those are the ones that stick out the most to me.

Ah, interesting question.
Several things I have been able to generalize:
1. We are all lonely as we find the discussions here addictive
2. We are all curious as we all have lots of questions about our surroundings
3. We all have more time available than we like to admit

The people that are asking most of the questions on her are in the minority. Not that many people in the world are as ignorant as some of the people on here seem to be.

Generalizations:
The higher the level a person is on directly corelates to the importance that person feels in his own answers.
Some people are very bad at math. (it takes 250 points at 1,2, or 10 points each to get to Level 2 where you can ask questions at which point people like you continue to ask bad questions at a cost of 5 points each)
