NFL teams play the regular season for 17 weeks. During that time they play 16 games.
The week they they do not play is called the Bye Week.
If they make the playoffs, they may earn another Bye, if they have the first or second best record in their conference; NFC or AFC.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"Bye (sports), when a player or team is allowed to advance to the next round of a playoff tournament without playing"

Not any more! You may see an important game that could be considered 'beautiful' such as Barcelona's win over United in CL last season; but generally, games like this are very rare in any football league. And now with the increasing level of sub-standard refreeing, feints, deceits, dives, et al, "the beautiful game" is a phrase belonging to Pele's days, and FIFA's dream; the latter have not contributed an iota "for the good of football". Despite it all, football will remain the planet's No.1 game.
