I love my Puerto Rican woman. I am not American though. I am English/Irish. My woman lives in the USA. My cousins are married to Puerto Rican men and they are great guys. You are right to say that you have a right to live there. Just ignore what they say, it's not worth the stress. Just be proud of yourself.

I'm a white American. I am also English, Irish, German, Norwegian, American Indian, and have a smattering of Italian. Most all Americans have the blood of other countries flowing through their veins.

I have had a lot of very good friends who are Hispanic...my uncle married a lady from Mexico City, and my cousins, when they were small, spoke sentences which were composed of both English words and Spanish.

I guess what I am trying to say is we don't all hate you. Don't let the jerks in your school get you down...because they are indeed jerks, and don't speak for the majority of Americans.

Peace.

People are estupido, baby. This country was built by immigrants of all backgrounds and it's going to continue to grow. Don't pay those folks no mind, darling. Most folks who think that Hispanics are nothing have very low self esteem and can't get their own thing together. And school those fools that Puerto Rico is a US territory(so it's part of America). Mami, I personally love and respect Hispanic culture. It's vibrant, sexy, and hot, Hot, HOT!!!! Be beautiful and celebrate your culture and your flava!

I don't hate Hispanics. I have many friends who are Hispanics. I love the culture (especially la familia) and the food, some of the music. There are good things and bad things about every culture. Here's something of interest for you, though. The first time I ever experienced racism, I was the white girl at a school full of Hispanic people. They called me white bread and yelled at me and things like that-this was years ago, but it is interesting that was my first experience with it! I don't hold anything against any race-we are all one race-the human race. It's too bad people have done things like that to you, but we aren't all bad, so please don't judge all people by a few.

Mama don't take it personal; we're Puertorricans are as Americans as any John Doe around. Unfortunately, because we also speak Spanish we get pulled into this whole Hispanics Immigration deal. Not many Americans know PR is part of USA. I've been asked many times if I've applied for my green card, if we have hamburgers in PR, if we have cars, etc, etc, etc.....

Americans do not hate hispanics. The problem is the invasion by illegals. If it continues as it is I don't think I will be able to say that Americans don't hate hispanics for much longer. If you are in this country illegally, you don't belong here.

Puerto Ricans have earned their reputation / sterotype unfortunately their race bears to this day...like any other socio-ethnic group.

If your "really" want to know and have ever studied Sociology (which you may not have to any extent, judging from the manner in which you have Posted your inquiry grammatically and content wise).

It all began back in the 50's when Gov. Luis Munoz Marin decided to empty out the island of Puerto Rico of it's poorly educated (iliterate mostly) impoverished natives subsiting on $20.00 USD per week.

He made arrangements with the then Democratic Mayor, Robt. Wagner of New York that, for free One-Way Air fares AND instant Welfare checks and the immediate access to housing in run down neighborhoods he would promote relocation to the States mainly to New York and Chicago providing the labor for menial service jobs in Hotels etc. The P.R.s would flood into to "paradise" and in exchange for their votes for Dems they'd be paid to ... do nothing .. just procreate.

So the great onslaught of Puerto Ricans came into the USA mainly New York City.

What did the hard working Irish and Italians that bulit the infra-structure of the greatest city in the world see? Hoardes of non-speaking Puerto Ricans on a free-ride with their kids running half naked in the snow and drunken fathers sitting outside 10 hours a day drinking beer and waiting for the Mailman!

Floods of strange people that could not speak English, languishing in their roach infested apartments not working just waiting for their monthly Welfare checks, drinking beer , playing Bongos and Congas in the street, non stop, during the summer months. Nice image?

The Welfare check ammounts were gauged according to the ammount of kids they had sooooo they began procreating like crazy! More kids - more Welfare.

Whole neighboorhoods were laid waste by a perople perceived to lazy, beer drinking, ignorant and with a "You owe me mentality" to boot!.

Yep sure "Boricua Para Siempre" pero nadia quire vivir alli !

Puerto Rico is a total DISASTER !! The infrastructure the roads the political system is an unholy mess!! the running joke about Statehood for the island is just that a joke!

The island subsists on 9 Billion US Dollars a year subsidy to sustain itself and the govt. there just closed down because they couldn't make Payroll!!

People may not hate Hispanics but shouldn't you do some self introspection and ask why that Race is viewed as such?

That would be the intelligent thing to do. I just gave you "historical"
facts you can look at and examine to now understand.

And after all..."Perception is 99% reality. I remember during the first Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC the TV cameras of WOR Channel 9 caught a woman pulling down her panties in the Parade and then being dragged off to jail..not very complimentary.

Puerto Ricans are perceived to be as they are because of their
collective cultural comportment. It is the only race with a HUGE National Inferioroty Complex which they try to compensate for with slogans and self engrandizement which unfortanuaely is just to bolster themselves in their own eyes.

Solution...stop thinking the world owes you a living...make your OWN way in this life and establish yourselves as a race of productivity and honor and you'll be accepted.

The Irish have and the Italians as well....everybody eats Pizza now-a days. And when the Italians and Irish came to America right off the boat they carved ouyt their place in America no one gave them anything....

Yes, Puerto Ricans have the Right to be in America automatic ciotizenship! You are America's War Booty..but for God's sake surely you can see what your people have done with that precious Right in the past!

The perception was created by your own people and the very attitude you express in your Post.

Respect is not owed your people or any other race
they have to EARN it.

Mayber anbother 50 years and you'll catch on?

Why would anyone hate Hispanics? You come from a culture that you should be very proud of. You must be very young and listening to your peers uncertainty about everyone and everything. Don't pay attention. Be proud.

If they talk like that then they are trash themselves. I'm latino and I'm legal and so is my mom. I'm not Boricua but Puerto Rica is a common wealth so every one there has the right to come. they are already legal.
