I personally think people who abuse pets are just as guilty as people who abuse people, and ought to be arrested and dealt with accordingly. It sickens me to see how some people treat those animals on those rescue shows, and then show no remorse when they get caught. I also think people who breed animals to fight ought to be killed by letting their dogs attack them in an arena. As for WHY they do it? Who knows...but I think we can all agree that those people that abuse pets, are worthless pieces of dirt and need to be dealt with harshly and with no chances for parole or restitution.

I think some people simply have no clue what this animal is going to act like when they bring it home. They pick out a cute, cuddly kitten or puppy and bring it home. But then it starts acting like nature intended it to act, and that's not acceptable to the owner. Puppies chew on everything, cats scratch and bite, they both need exercise, they need food and water, and they need a place to poop and pee. So all of a sudden, the couch is getting scratched, or someone's best shoes get chewed up, and the new little pet is kicked outside, or just plain kicked. Then they get another one and start over, only to have the same results.
I've seen that scenario many times. It drives me crazy.
Then there are the ones who simply have no empathy or sympathy for living creatures. They may have bought a dog to be a guard dog, but feel no compassion or caring for it. To them, "it's just a dog," or "it's just a cat." So they don't have to go out of their way to feed it, care for it, or get medical attention for it when it's sick.
I watch Animal Planet a lot, and it is heartbreaking to see what some animals suffer through before they are rescued. And also, because you know that if a person can be so callous and uncaring toward an animal, it's not a far stretch to treat their children or family the same way. Lack of compassion and empathy is a frightening thing.

It seems that people don't think of animals as creatures with feelings or emotions. Even if they see that their pet is upset, they will continue to abuse that pet -- "oh, it's just a dog!" I think it's terrible, and I am glad that animals abuse is getting more and more attention due to channels such as Animal Planet. It seems as if the law is moving toward harsher penalties for animal abusers as well. As with children, some people take out all their pain and frustration on their pets and some go as far as to put their pets in cage matches -- perhaps they want to make money off their pet as well.
So, I completely agree with you about animal cruelty.

Many people get pets because they want the fun things associated with having a pet like petting it or playing, but don't realize that the pet will require a lot of care. Let's hope they learn their lesson before having children.
Also, many people do train dogs or cocks to fight. They don't treat these animals like pets but instead they treat them like in investment. They will care for the animal in many ways but only to be sure it is in top fighting condition. This is a cruel practice, but one that goes on worldwide because there is money involved. If someone is willing to pay money for something, it is going to exist no matter if it is legal, moral, or ethical.

they like the idea of a pet the reality of caring for them is beyond them
unfortunately there are millions of people who get pets ,and then discard them or mistreat them
knew a guy who had a beautiful Sheppard that he kept in a gage in the house
ridiculous
.and I get many reports of people dumping cats dogs on the highway or even on the rubbish dump, because they are tired of them
Unfortunately ,the Christian religion does not help ,because people are taught that animals do not have feelings .and and second class creatures
very sad but very true
many people should definitely not have animals and there should be stronger laws to protect them
,but we can only hope to see that in first world countries of Northern Europe
where religion has lost its hold.

People see these cute little puppies and want them but they are to stupid to realize that they are not going to always be little. So, when they get bigger people just don't want to have anything else to do with them. So, many people are so self absorbed in to them selfs that they don't take time for their pets. It's so sad how animals are treated, If we could treat that person the way they treated the animal more people would not miss treat them.

We live in a world of different people raised in different patterns of life. Some from impoverished lives as well.
Nobody can really say why they do the things they do to animals except that they have no emotional value about life be it Dog or Human.

It is very sad indeed to see people abusing animals, we have this mentality of abusing those weaker creatures and we should make world wide programs to educate our kids at school not to mistreat animals and weaker creatures because they are God's creation and they deserve to live well and to be helped,, I wish there would be programs at school to teach kids about loving animals

i'm no wild and merciless or i does no longer be having this communication. i think of human beings have a bond with animals, fairly canines and different kinfolk pets by using fact they generally prepare devotion to the owner, the likes of which isn't considered via any random individual you could meet. yet to assert that each and everybody human beings are wild and merciless is to assert all human beings you have ever be attentive to alter into wild and merciless...
