There are people that know what's going on outside of what the TV tells them.

Most Americans, from what I understand, are portrayed as stupid, intolerant, and lazy. Not everyone here is like that.

I do agree that we need to accept more cultures. The average person in Vietnam knows both English and Vietnamese. The average American can say "Hello", "Thank you", and "Good Bye" in Spanish. That's the most a lot of people know here.

I'm sorry if we portray a negative image.

Most Americans don't believe whats on CNN because we'd rather be watching something else...anything else. In fact we are watching something else, because really who wants to watch Ken and Barbie read the news?????

But really, America has a free press, more free than any other place in the world. I'd believe the American press before Al Jazeera, do they really think anyone is taking them seriously? The thing is in America we think for ourselves, we don't have some one telling us what is right or wrong, we can make up our own minds. So if we don't like what is on CNN, we can switch to FOX, or MSNBC or TV Land.....

I'm an american, but I consider myself a citizen of the world, I dont' watch CNN, on rely on the New York Times (Which has world news!) and internet sources with worl news, oh, and BBC. Sure, there are a lot of Americans like that, but there are so many different kinds of people in America, that you can never judge by saying "americans". I mean, you can't even say Americans like Bush! Cause he didn't even really win in 2000, and not everyoen voted for him in 2004, and a lot of peopel who did vote for him are getting really pissed now, so don't generalize.

Actually, I do get my information from a variety of sources and I am an American. The least biased publications that I know of at this time are the Guardian (formerly the Manchester Guardian), The Christian Science Monitor and the Utne Reader.

Of course I realize I am not the typical American you address your question to, I am against the war, for legalization of gay marriage, ready for the impeachment of Bush and his trial for war crimes, and many other somewhat unpopular ideas that will with any luck someday be realized.

excuse me? Why does everyone classify "americans" as one big group? There are other news sources that can be read out there... not just CNN. BBC is decent and other places. I think one should not be ignorant of what goes on in the world. Do not classify people... maybe you need some truth.

i understand what you mean. we don't always believe everything we see or hear on television. CNN while is a reputable station, is like most, they have ratings to make and try to get the hottest stories. so why do you believe everything you hear about america?

CNN isn't the answer to all questions. My litlle brother is in Iraq. Enough happens there that I don't know. He can't tell me; the hollywood version, that they are there, is a lie. My Savior, Jesus Christ, is protecting my brother and his unit, and no Muslim can persuade me otherwise.
