I believe that when it's all said in done the only thing that will matter is HOW WE HAVE LOVED. Loving is the point of life.

To create future usefulness for the universe. The pain and trouble is part of the competition between us all and the world. We can live cooperatively and work toward the future of the species, or we can fight each other over stupid stuff and waste our energy and ability.
There is no real 'reason' why there are bad things and good things. There is just the task we have before us to TRY and live creatively. Our NET Creativity is the usefulness we create compared to what we consume. If we consume more than we create, then eventually, we go extinct and leave nothing to show for it.

The point of life rests in our emotions and within ourselves. Ultimatly, it is to get happiness out of your life, but there are so many ways to go through it. Times of pain and suffering are more like lessons, to teach you what to do to avoid such feelings, yet there are some goals which give you an extremely stunning amount of happiness, like love, that you have to go through pain and suffering as a cost for, to show that you truly want this for yourself.

Keep it simple. What's the point in life? To leave the world in better shape than you got it. To do right by your fellow man/woman. To achieve, but not at the expense of others. To help the less fortunate when able, without expecting compensation.
If you can honestly say you've accomplished those few things up above, then I'd say you lived a good life.

Renee...follow your heart --- off drugs --- Good days, bad days, pain,,,,, is called LIFE. Nobody said living was easy. At your age have you lost anyone really close to you? You wouldn't ask this kind of Q if you had ever lost someone you loved.
YOU started this by saying....I asked myself over and over and I could think---etc. But! Opinions...You just got one dear.

To have a positive effect on those around us. To grow as people and not succumb to mediocrity. To excell in what we do on a daily basis. We go thru bad days and pain to cause growth. Consider the uses of adversity. Adversity causes growth.

So many people wonder the same thing. It is very sad. God put us on this Earth as His children, and like any father, He wants us to have full and fruitful lives. I have linked to a web site below. I love this site because it is direct and to the point. It begins with "There's Gotta Be More", and I think it will answer your questions.

I will try and explain as thouroghly as possible, but It may not make perfect sense;
We are put here on earth for a big reason. First, let me explain something. This is not our only life. I mean, we lived before in a spirit world. That was called our pre-mortal life. In that life, our Father in Heaven made a plan for us. He wanted all of us to live life, as He had, and to return to Him above. He wanted us to progress and become more like Him. So we were sent here to obtain bodies, learn to become perfected as He is, and learn to properly choose between right and wrong.
He wants us to become more like Him, to learn, to love, to grow. He sends us trials and suffering so that we can become perfected. Our trials, however painfull they are, help us to grow and to learn to reach out for him. Through our mistakes and sufferings, we learn of Christ's Atonement, and how to go through life living it to the fullest and learning to become as Christ is.
Maybe that doesn't make perfect or even remote sense, but that is what I believe. We come here to learn, to love, to have families and become like Christ. And this is not the end, either.
