why do "high profile" people (famous people) get more attention, when something happens? why are their funerals published on television. Ours never would be, how come they get it?

Because we buy into it. If we didn't buy the magazines or watch the news/specials about these people they wouldn't give them so much attention. We have a need to see these people through their ups and downs, so the media feeds that need.
