For insurance purposes, 12 credit hours is considered Full-time.

Many universities lay out their degree plans based on a 15 credit hour Full-time semester. If you are wanting to take your time however, you will likely need at least 12 to stay on a parent's insurance. This benefit usually only lasts until age 23! Take this into consideration as you plot out your degree plan. During the summer, a 6 hr. course load is considered full-time, though summer enrollment is not often a requirement for insurance.

Check with your school's Registrar (who will provide proof of enrollment) and your dad's insurance company to be sure!

Full-time is usually 12-15 semester hours (3-5 classes) or 16+ quarter hours (some schools still use this system), but it's easy to find out. Check the school's website OR give them a call. The insurance company will need a statement signed by the registrar of the college/university you will attend anyway.

If you are talking about "credit hours" it is normally 12.

Some schools work on "quarter hours" ,... if this is what you are looking for you'll have to look at the school's catalog.
