Where'd the whole superhero thing come from, thats the question.

Zorro was probably the prototype. He had a cape, so maybe it came from that.

Athletes of the 30s wore shirts with thick belted swim trunks. Maybe thats where the briefs on the outside look came from.

As you said. The tights are too tight to wear anything inside so he wore them outside. Did not want his B*lls hanging when he is flying

can u imagine superman wearing his briefs inside? he would basically be plain blue with this little brief lining underneath. plus he managed to start a trend, which no one wnated to follow

Because he needed something to hold on to his tights...otherwise they would have flown off thnx to the high speed in which he flies

they are not briefs,,,,,, they were space-age joggin shorts..... and the tights were in all reality, long-johns......
it was cold up on his home planet.... and he was a fitness buff who enjoyed a good mornin' run.
