Where'd the whole superhero thing come from, thats the question.
Zorro was probably the prototype. He had a cape, so maybe it came from that.
Athletes of the 30s wore shirts with thick belted swim trunks. Maybe thats where the briefs on the outside look came from.

can u imagine superman wearing his briefs inside? he would basically be plain blue with this little brief lining underneath. plus he managed to start a trend, which no one wnated to follow

forget the the underwear ( the first time )
but he got it on............ eventually -
in superman speed flight on the outside...
the rest is HISTORY but everyone liked it...
( easier to change ...even in public...)

they are not briefs,,,,,, they were space-age joggin shorts..... and the tights were in all reality, long-johns......
it was cold up on his home planet.... and he was a fitness buff who enjoyed a good mornin' run.
