Almost every university has a dance program.
There are so many factors in your choice, I wish you've included more information and fewer question marks.
Take a look at Juilliard, BYU, CalState Irvine, Tisch.
There are private colleges too like CalArts which has a pretty good program.
Depends on where you want to live and what you want your career to be.
Dancing in the movies, dancing on Broadway, folk dancing, tap dancing, dance history -- there are so many options to cover when making a decision.

There aren't objective benchmarks when it comes to measuring a program in the arts. Art is subjective. Therefore I agree with the other two people who answered that the key is what YOU want to do with dance. Post a follow up to your question with what you're interested in and your goals and someone is more likely to be able to help you.
Two books that can help you are the Dance Magazine College Guide (http://www.dancemagazine.com/college_guide/?PHPSESSID=ffb0497a85d7c5a25115d1dd2e0e82e6) and "The Performing Arts Major's College Guide" by Carole J. Everett.

Katt,
Are you trying to major in Dance, or trying to Dance while you major in something else?
I'm dancing while Majoring in Business. The dance program is out of the College of Fine Arts at my University, and I'm quite happy with it.
If you want to major in Dance, then look at the Dance program at the Universities you are considering, and look at the different emphasis programs in dance that they offer.
Just one correction to the other person's answer, don't look for Cal State Irvine, because that campus never existed. Irvine has always been in the University of California systems so that one is UC Irvine.

i wouldn't suggest just going to a dance school. you should go to a college or university with a good dance program but major in something other than dance. Dance is such a difficult career to follow so you need to have a back up plan.
