The band is Everclear, and the song is called "Santa Monica". It appears on their album "Sparkle and Fade", which in my opinion is their best work. The album is solid throughout. I highly recommend it.

I know the song, but I don't remember who sings it. Try singing the theme song to the Brady Bunch...that should make you forget about the other song.
