As everyone else answered, the White Sox were wearing green on Friday for the Half Way to St. Patrick's Day promotion -- they do it every year.

Obviously promotions are for the fans and the South Side of Chicago is notoriously known for it's Irish heritage! If you ever go to a Sox game you will find that they have green shirts, green hats, etc. for sale at even a regular game.

There's a famous South Side Irish song that says "our two favorite baseball teams are the Go Go White Sox and whoever plays the Cubs"

Good guys wear green too!

Promotion called "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" because St. Patrick's Day is exactly 6 months away.

They were green caps and their jersey had green lettering.

The Chicago River is dyed green every St. Patrick's Day.

It was a promotion called half way to St Patricks Day. That's why they wore the green.

that was the promotion on Friday night. The "halfway to St. Pat's" night. Don't ask me why its not done on or closer to the 17th. They also wear those uniforms on or around St. Pats day in spring training.
