It can be dangerous to induce your own labor. Trying to induce your self could lead to severe complications that result in a very difficult delivery, c-section or even damage to you or the baby. Your body will know when it is time. You can do light walking or yoga as long as your doctor says your ok to do so. Meditation and breathing techniques also work well. You can find vidoes/DVDs about meditation techniques. This breathing technique worked great for me: Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose then exhale through your mouth, taking as long or longer than you did to inhale

Hey! yes yes yes. I tried so many ways because i was in constant pain for the last 4 weeks and my baby was already nearlly 10Ibs. I tried Castor Oil.. Mix about 5 tbsps with orange juice or something like that and drink it fast and all at once. That definately brings on labour. A good sign that it is working is if you need to go to the toilet. and you get niggley pains.
Also walking is good and everytime you get a little pain, DONT stop just keep walking.
Have sex is another although, who REALLY feels like sex at that point!??? LOL
What i ended up getting done was the doctor/midwife swept the membranes away from my cervix, which brings the labour on. They sweep them with their finger.(they dont break your waters)
I got that done on a monday lunchtime, by monday afternoon i was in bed, in pain but not contractions just period pain like you would not believe! and vomiting a bit. The next day i felt pretty fine so i got out my airowalker and did 20 mins on that. Then an hour later my waters broke and i was going to hospital and not coming home until i had my baby! So i suggest if you are in a bit of pain or overdue ask them to do that for you. I recommend it a hundred percent. GOOD LUCK!!

You should't try to bring labor any sooner than it has to come, cause for 1 you could end up trying something you could regret.Walking only helps when it is in days or weeks of your due date and sex well your doctor will tell you that it is something in semen that actually helps a women cervix thin out and dilate. If I was you I would't rush the onset of labor!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, people keep saying sex. this is true, but doesn't help a whole lot if there is not a release of sperm. there is some hormone in the ejaculation that is the same as the hormones which stimulate contractions. if you are so determined and the baby is late talk to your doctor. they may want to break your water sak. but do not attempt this on your own. it can create strain on the baby.

Sex and walking. For some reason or another, right before labor hit, she was doing some intense house cleaning.

I have heard: Sex, Walking (I walked and walked and nothing happened), Spicy food, Driving on a bumpy road, Laxatives (don't recommend this one), they go on and on. Need more? Ask your grandmother, mine was full of suggestions.
