I personally think that after the last 6 years that being a neo-con would be a bad thing.

Conservatives made it a bad thing. I have spent years trying to figure out how they did it, but they made it so that no Democrat would admit to the label. It bacame a dirty word. They really are afraid of liberalism because it means that the average person benefits from a nations prosperity. They don't like that much because they feel that all of the wealth belongs to an elite few and even more amazing they have convince the average american that this is true also.

What I don't understand is how Bush and his supporters could claim to be "conservative" after the out of control spending that has spiralled this country into an astronomical deficit.
Liberal:

1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

Keeping that definition in mind, (from Websters), I am proud to be a liberal. Liberal=Liberty, the main principle this country was founded on.

The last time liberals were in charge of all 3 branches of the federal government, the country ended up in worse shape than it had been when the Democrats started that particular "reign," (I'm talking about the Sixties, of course).

You, of course, are hoping for the same kind of thing: for the conservative Republicans to loose their current power in the next couple of elections because they are perceived as having made the country worse rather than better. And you'll probably get your wish.

Liberal is someone who is defined by the Webster’s dictionary as someone who is open minded and generous. No decent person could find this tendency to be deplorable. However, the term liberal has become such a reviled term because liberals have allowed conservatives to hijack the term and monopolize the airwaves when it comes to shaping the American lexicon. If your enemy is allowed to define the terms to his advantage, you are destined to lose no matter how noble you might be.

There's nothing wrong with being a liberal, just as there is nothing wrong with being a conservative. Checks and balances are a good thing. When one gets too far out of hand you need the other to bring it back in line and visa verse.

i do in comparison to labels of any sort yet i could extremely be called a liberal then conservative if i'm professing to be a Christian. i found this quote and that i presumed it replaced right into a stable one: As stated with the help of Gary Vance, an evangelical Christian minister: Jesus replaced into the basically precise liberal cutting-edge cutting-edge of all history. The conservative non secular and social shape that He defied hated and crucified Him. They examined His life and did no longer like what they observed. He aligned Himself with the undesirable and the oppressed. He challenged the non secular orthodoxy of His day. He recommended pacifism and loving our enemies. He liberated women and minorities from oppression.… Jesus replaced into the unique Liberal. He replaced right into a well known, and He replaced into judged and hated for it. i detect it unusual then that folk can come across themselves as "conservative Christians." As I stated, i do in comparison to labels yet for my section conservatives have an identical sense of entitlement as a spoiled prosperous youngster.

being a liberal isnt a bad thing but the conservite side has been using media to make it seem like it is. "if your not with us (the conservities) then your with the enemy" also terms like "bleeding heart liberal" and "tree hugger"
liberals tend to accomadate and understand and the other side sees this as a weakness and makes fun and demeans the liberal side either because the truely dislike the beliefs or they dont like trying to be softer and feel better with quicker action and less debate.

ps i am as nuetral as humanly possible with both liberal and conservite leanings.

It is not necessarily bad. Generally, liberals are in favor of more social programs (welfare, free medical for illegals and those like them) to be supported by the tax payer, they want amnesty for the illegals, increased taxes, against free exercise of religion even while saying they are for it, and for the elimination of Christian values from the USA. In addition, they are for Gay marriage, more government in general because they feel they can do a better job taking of us than we can ourselves, and the list goes on. The problem arises is that many people do not agree with the liberal agenda. So the battle lines are drawn and the arrows are thrown as slurs. So being a liberal is not bad, but only if you agree with their agenda and want what they want.

Liberal is associated with homosexuals and abortion, which is not really the meaning of liberal, but the republicans have pumped it and pumped it until people believe it. In reality liberal should be associated with liberty, which means freedom and the gay issue's and abortion should be associated with something else. Plus I know democrats who republicans would call liberal because they are democrats but they are really conservative in 99% of their ways.

The word, as commonly used by many people, bears no relation to its actual meaning.

Like "cracker", which by definition refers to a crisp backed wafer. However, the slang usage has nothing to do with the actual definition.
